BENEFITS OF FASTING AND AYURVEDIC TIPS FOR ITS EFFECTIVENESS

Water fasting is a type of fast where you consume only water and nothing.

Studies have shown that water fasting has quite a number of health benefits. It is not advisable to do water fasting for more than 24 to 72 hours.

As Ayurveda believes in the uniqueness of each individual, the benefits of water fasting will vary from individual to individual. When we fast according to Ayurvedic, it is called pratyahara, which means anything taken into the body. Though Ayurveda does not suggest to go fasting completely without food, but it does mention the benefits of water fasting.

Ayurveda says you are what you digest. When our digestive fire or Agni is low, we begin to accumulate toxins or ama, which is the undigested food matter inside us. This ama is the root cause of all diseases.

When ama starts accumulating, we experience several changes including cravings, mood swings, anxiety, fatigue, bad breath, a coating on the tongue, body odour, and laziness. If we do not take precautions to detox this ama, this toxic undigested food gets into the bloodstream and spreads throughout the body, manifesting into serious conditions. Water fasting helps in eliminating Ama.

Benefits of water fasting

The digestive organs are the largest in the body, hence they require a lot of energy to function, so at times need rest. This rest can be given by fasting, which frees up energy to be used for healing. This energy is then used for improving agni, to detoxify the body, and supporting a strong immune system.

Fasting soothes our body and mind like meditation. With fasting, the body feels lighter and regains its natural glow. It increases the energy level and the mind becomes clearer and more focused.

With fasting, our bodies get detoxed and throw out the unwanted toxins. Basically, fasting cleanses the body and mind. This is why spiritual and religious traditions follow and encourage fasting.

Fasting may lower the risk of chronic diseases and help our body to break down and recycle old parts of our cells.

Studies have shown that water fast helps to lower high blood pressure.

Ayurvedic tips for water fasting

Before indulging in water fasting, it is important to know your constitution and the current state of health. If you suffer from any chronic illness, you should consult an Ayurvedic practitioner before undertaking water fast.

If you wake up in the morning, feeling dull and have a coating on your tongue, it’s time to do a fast. Whenever you have indigestion, it is your body’s signals that something is wrong. So to give your digestive system a rest, and helping it to clear up the accumulated ama, it is time for a water fasting.

Ayurveda usually recommends short, regular fasting, for instance once a week, once a month, or once every season.

Fasting can provoke Vata. If you have a Vata constitution, you should never do water fast, nor should you fast for more than two days. Fasting during the change of seasons or once a month is recommended for you. Vata constitution people can drink warm teas made with ginger, salt, and lime.

If you are a Pitta person, you should not fast on water alone. You should consider a juice fast of bitter and astringent vegetable, leafy greens, or diluted grape, prune, or pomegranate juice.

If you are a Kapha person, you can fast more regularly. But it is recommended to fast on hot water, lemon and honey.

At any point in time, if you feel weak, irritated, or painfully hungry, you should immediately introduce some solid foods.

Triphala is a herbal combination that is beneficial for most people during a fast. It gently detoxes the body and supports the digestive system.

If you do fasting once a week, it is advisable to do it on the same day every week.

During the fast, you can feel tired, light-headed, or have a mild headache as the toxins are getting scavenged and your body is getting purified. These are good signs and will pass in a short time.

AYURVEDIC DIET AND LIFESTYLE TIPS TO STAY FIT DURING MONSOON

The rainy season is always welcome after months of scorching heat. But along with the showers, the monsoon season brings with it bouts of illnesses and seasonal allergies. Many of us fall prey to monsoon illnesses like diarrhea, malaria, cholera, typhoid, dengue, chikungunya, besides cold, cough and viral fever. It is of utmost importance that we take care of our health and our family’s wellbeing during the rainy season.

Why we suffer from monsoon illnesses

According to Ayurveda, Vata is an important dosha, which governs all activities in the mind and body including the flow of blood, elimination of wastes, breathing as well as the movement of thoughts in our mind. During the rainy season, Vata gets aggravated, and gives rise to impaired digestion, low immunity, and makes our body weak.  Impaired digestion leads to improper end product of the food which is known as ama that is the causative factor in many diseases including a simple rhinitis.

Ayurvedic tips to stay fit in monsoon

Ayurveda suggests several dietary tips to keep our digestive system fit and healthy. By following these tips, our immune system gets strong and helps to fight bacteria in our body.

Ayurveda suggests avoiding food that is uncooked and raw. We should eat only well-cooked food and maintain hygiene while cooking. We should avoid eating street food during monsoon because street foods remain in the open for a long time and get infected with bacteria, making the food unfit for consumption.

Foods made from barley, rice and wheat are good to consume during the rainy season. Include cow’s ghee, lentils, green gram, rice and wheat in your diet daily. Have a small piece of ginger with rock salt before every meal. Sour and salted soups of vegetables and moong dal soup help to boost immunity. They help toxins of the body to get flushed out.

According to Ayurvedic principles, bitter-tasting vegetables and herbs are good to neutralise Pitta. So during monsoon, try to eat a lot of bitter vegetables like bitter gourd (karela) and bitter herbs like neem, fenugreek and turmeric. This will help to keep infections and the other illnesses associated with Pitta at bay.

Avoid spicy and greasy food as chillies and hot spices might hinder proper digestion. Uncooked foods like salads are best avoided.

Drinking boiled and cooled water mixed with little honey is recommended. Also, try to drink as much fluids as you can to prevent slowing down of metabolism. You may have buttermilk instead of curd.

Ayurveda suggests Panchkarma, a five-fold healing process to remove toxins from the body. These toxins give rise to diseases. This complete mind-body healing process should be done under the guidance of a professional. This healing process restores balance in the body through herbs and oil massages, thereby rejuvenating the body and mind.

Some dos and dont’s during monsoon season

Avoid foods that are not palatable with your digestive system during monsoon. Some of these include grains like raagi, bajari, maize, barley. Vegetables like spinach, cabbage, peas. Lentils like masoor, chana. Fruits like black plum, jackfruit, cucumber, watermelon, and muskmelon. Also, avoid buffalo milk and paneer.

Drink normal temperature water and not extremely cold water.

Do not sleep during the day, it makes you lethargic and digestion takes time.

Use light oils like olive oil, ghee or sunflower oil to cook food. Lighter oils are better and easily digested by the body during monsoons. Do not use mustard oil, peanut oil, or butter as these are heavy and lead to generation of heat in the body.

Avoid sour items like chutneys and pickles. Incorporate lots of tulsi or green teas in your diet as they have healing properties.

Keep your house clean and don’t let the disease-spreading mosquitoes breed. For a natural way out, use fumes of fried neem leaves as a mosquito repellent.

cure insomnia

Cure insomnia

Insomnia is a sleep disorder, when you have trouble falling asleep. The condition can be short-term or last for a long time, when it is called chronic sleep disorder. Sleep disorder may also include less sleep, restlessness while sleeping, and poor quality of sleep.

Insomnia can be of two types—primary and secondary. In primary insomnia, your sleep problem is not linked to any health problem. Secondary insomnia means you have trouble sleeping because of a health condition like asthma, depression, arthritis, cancer, heartburn, medication or maybe because of alcohol.

Ayurvedic approach to insomnia

In Ayurveda, insomnia is caused by degradation of the Vata dosha. Vata, Pitta and Kapha regulate the body functions. A normally functioning Kapha provides healthy sleep, while sleep disorders can take place with increased Vata and decreased Kapha. Psychological factors like anxiety, rage, envy, stress are the main reasons for poor sleep and insomnia.

Ayurvedic tips for good quality sleep

Do not indulge in overeating before going to bed. Also avoid eating just before bedtime. This can lead to heartburn and indigestion, making it difficult to fall asleep. Eating a big meal in the evening can slow down your digestion and cause sleep disturbance. Night time is the body’s time to rest, recharge, and repair, which it can’t do if it is working to process a big and heavy meal like deep-fried foods, etc. Therefore, it is always recommended to have bigger a lavish lunch and a lighter dinner.

Make lunch your biggest meal. Since digestion and sleep are intimately connected, at noon, when the sun is highest in the sky, your agni (digestive fire) is at its strongest level and can process a big meal properly. In the evening, digestion becomes weaker.

Experts suggest that you should have a sleep schedule, which means same sleep schedule every day. This will ensure that your body’s biological clock functions properly.

If you have sleep disorders, do some exercises. A sedentary lifestyle can also affect your sleep cycle. Exercising 20-30 minutes a day few hours before bed will help you get good sleep.

Avoid cigarettes and heavy drinking of alcohol in the evening.

You should also avoid doing other activities while in bed such as using mobile phones or computers. These activities prevent your brain from recognising your bed as a place to sleep.

Have warm milk with a pinch of nutmeg, cardamom and crushed almonds before going to bed. It is found that regular consumption of cherries help in inducing good sleep. Fresh tomato juice with 2 teaspoons of sugar and a pinch of nutmeg also helps to put you to sleep.

While almonds are a source of the sleep-regulating hormone melatonin, chamomile tea contains antioxidants that may promote sleepiness. Kiwis are also good to have as they are rich in serotonin and antioxidants, which help to improve sleep quality when eaten before bed. Walnuts are sources of the sleep-regulating hormone melatonin. White rice contains high glycemic index which promotes good sleep. Milk contains tryptophan and melatonin which provide soothing backdrop for a relaxing bedtime routine.

Herbs like Brahmi, Ashwagandha, Shankhpushpi and Jatamasi help in inducing good sleep. While Brahmi calms emotional turbulence, Shankhpushpi acts as a natural tranquilliser for anxiety neurosis that helps in improving sleep. Ashwagandha also has qualities of improving the quality of sleep and may help in treating insomnia. The leaves of the plant in particular contain the compound triethylene glycol, which promotes sound sleep.

Ayurveda also offers a range of safe and herbal medicines to boost good quality sleep without causing any harmful side effect.

Nidramitra for sound sleep

PSORA CAPSULES: AYURVEDIC MEDICINES FOR PSORIASIS

Psoriasis is a skin disorder manifested as white scaly itchy skin rashes with small bumps and redness. The skin cells are known to multiply 10 times faster than normal condition due to which the above symptoms are noticed. These patches can grow anywhere on the body, but more often they appear on the scalp, elbows, knees, and lower back.

Symptoms

The symptoms of this skin disease vary depending on the type one suffers from. Some common symptoms are:

Plaques of red skin often covered with white scales. These patches may be itchy and painful, and they sometimes crack and bleed. In severe cases, the patches grow and merge, covering large areas.

Symptoms on fingernails and toenails include discoloration and pitting of the nails. The nails even get detached from the nail bed.

People with psoriasis can also suffer from a type of arthritis called psoriatic arthritis. It leads to swelling in the joints, which becomes painful.

Causes of psoriasis

According to experts, psoriasis occurs when the immune system causes inflammation, triggering new skin cells to form very fast. In normal condition, skin cells are replaced every 10 to 30 days. But with psoriasis, new cells grow every 3 to 4 days. These skin cells start piling up leading to patches and white scales. Psoriasis is a hereditary disease.

Ayurvedic approach to psoriasis

According to Ayurveda, psoriasis occurs due to an imbalance between two doshas or energies. These are the Vata and Kapha. Vata is responsible for controlling bodily functions and, therefore, contribute to the dryness and skin scaling of psoriasis.

Our skin conditions are also different based on the doshas. Vata disorders may lead to black or brown discolouration, dryness of skin, rough patches, pricking or piercing pain, stiffness of the local area, numbness, fissures, cracks, nervous involvement, etc. On the other hand, Pitta disorders may have symptoms like bright red discolouration, burning sensation, excessive sweating, pus formation, some liquid formation, fever, inflammation, ulceration, etc. Kapha disorders are accompanied by pale white discolouration, swelling, fluid retention, itching, oiliness, heaviness, etc

In people with Vata dominant conditions, the skin gets dry with excessive scaling. The spread is usually uneven, quick and is aggravated with Vata increasing conditions like stress, irregular sleep and lifestyle.

In people with Pitta dominant conditions, the skin shows discolouration with burning sensation and the hair follicles may be affected. This is accompanied with bleeding and pustule formation.

On the other hand, in people with Kapha dominant conditions, the skin shows whitish discolouration with thick skin and itching.

Ayurveda believes there are various causes of skin diseases:

  • In case we take foods of opposing qualities, for example, yoghurt and fruit, dairy products and sour fruits, etc
  • Suppressing any natural urges may lead to skin diseases
  • Physical exercises after a heavy meal
  • Travelling or going out in the sun after a heavy meal
  • Excessive intake of foods like yogurt, slat fish, sour foods, etc
  • Improper application and administration of Panchakarma (Ayurvedic detoxification)
  • When massages and oil therapies are done while ama is still present in the body

Ayurveda suggests that psoriasis can be treated only after ama is eliminated and the digestive fire is stimulated and strengthened. This should be followed by elimination therapies like Panchakarma. It involves internal and external oleation. While for internal oleation, Panchatikta Ghrita is used.  Oils are used for external oleation.

Some herbs are very useful in the treatment of psoriasis such as Manjistha, Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), Gotu kola, Guggulu, Bhumyamalaki (Phyllanthus niruri).

External application of oils like Jatyadi oil (jasmine oil) helps to treat lesions. Paste of jasmine flowers is also beneficial.

Ayurvedic approach to migraine

According to Ayurveda, an imbalance in tridosha may trigger migraine. It is essentially caused by Vata and Pitta dosha. When there is an imbalance of Vata, which controls the nervous system and brain activities, it triggers migraine. People with a Vata constitution are likely to suffer from migraines.

Vata imbalance can happen due to many reasons like improper metabolism, mental and physical stress, menstrual cycles, insomnia, hunger, barometric changes, toxicity in the body and excessive use of computer. Pitta usually causes dilation of the blood vessels, which usually leads to a migraine attack.

Ayurveda suggests following a Pitta-pacifying diet and lifestyle to get relief from migraines. This means adding more sweet, bitter, and astringent foods and avoiding acidic, pungent, sour, and salty foods.

It is also recommended to follow a lifestyle that helps eliminate stress, strengthens digestion, and balances the doshas.

Parkinsona: ayurvedic medicine effective in managing parkinson’s disease

Parkinson’s disease is caused by the gradual deterioration of nerve junctions, popularly known as ganglia. These junctions are situated at the base of the brain and affect the muscle control and movements of the body. The major symptom of the disease is tremor. Tremors start in the hands when the muscles are at rest.

The disease is a neurodegenerative disorder, which means that brain cells gradually start malfunctioning and eventually die. The disease damages the brain cells that make a chemical called dopamine. When dopamine gets reduced it leads to movement problems that mark Parkinson’s disease.

The main symptoms of Parkinson’s disease include:

  • Uncontrollable shaking and tremors
  • Slowed movement
  • Balance difficulties and eventual problems in standing up
  • Stiffness in limbs

Ayurveda’s approach to Parkinson’s disease

Parkinson’s disease starts gradually over time. The early signs are barely noticeable. Gradually, a person’s movements start changing. The person’s movement becomes slow, and he finds difficulty in balancing or walking. His face also lacks expression, and due to hand tremors, handwriting may become small and cramped. The patient finds it difficult to sleep, eat, think, speak, smell, and even make decisions. As the disease matures, symptoms become more difficult to control.

In Ayurveda, Parkinson’s disease is called Kampavata. To treat this disease, Ayurveda aims at strengthening the nervous system as well as rejuvenating brain tissues for an overall improvement in the condition. As a part of the treatment, Ayurveda suggests home remedies along with personalised treatment which has proved to be effective.

As a person ages, the Vata dosha becomes predominant in the body, and relocates in the brain. This leads to drying up of the brain cells leading to tremors and instability in the body, particularly in the hands. When vitiation of Vata takes place, and occupies in almost all channels of the body, a person suffers from Parkinson’s disease.

Parkinson’s disease leads to weak digestive fire, disturbing digestion in the person. This is due to the presence of toxins called ama in Ayurveda. Weak digestive fire, disturbed digestion, and presence of toxins are generally found at gastrointestinal and cellular levels of a person, which provide conducive conditions for vitiation of Vata.

Ayurveda suggests several home remedies and herbs for digestion along with nerve tonics to restore digestive function both in the gastrointestinal tract and at a cellular level. Special diets are also advised. Treatment for Parkinson’s disease in Ayurveda includes neuro-rasayanas, which stimulate neurotransmitters and helps in overcoming problems while relaxing the mind.

Parkinson’s disease starts arising after the age of 50, but can also appear earlier in life.

While there is no cure for Parkinson’s disease, Ayurvedic treatments can help to control the degeneration of brain cells, enhancing better motor movements. Ayurvedic medications and therapies can control some of the symptoms and improve quality of life for the patient.

Ayurvedic treatment, therefore, centers around the treatment of Vata disturbance. Massage and poultices are the main parts of the treatment. They rejuvenate the nervous system.

Parkinsona medicine is an effective solution

Arborium plus

Arborium plus: ayurvedic medicine effective in cardiac ailments

Cardiac diseases include heart defect, rheumatic heart disease, arrhythmia, myocarditis, arteriosclerosis, hypertension, high blood cholesterol, cardiovascular attack, etc. A person may have a genetic tendency to suffer from these diseases. However, suppression of feelings and stress are the major causes of constant tension and anxiety, which are underlying causes of heart ailments. Unhealthy eating and sedentary lifestyle are two other major causes.

When we develop heart diseases, it usually leads to heart attacks and strokes. Before such conditions take place, a person feels discomfort such as chest pain, tingling sensations from the middle area of the back to the hands, and even may lose consciousness. Some of the symptoms include bluish tongue and lips, shortness of breath, vomiting, cough, and fever.

Ayurvedic approach to heart diseases

According to Ayurveda, diseases and their symptoms indicate overall disturbances in the human body. It indicates that there are imbalances in the vital energies that carry out the biological processes, which keep the body as an integrated and self-sufficient system. These energies are called doshas, which are in balance so that the different organs can function optimally. If one of the energies falls out from the balance, the unique equilibrium of a person gets disturbed, in turn, disturbing the functions of the organs. This condition leads to diseases.

When one dosha gets affected and goes out of balance, it causes disturbances in the other two doshas. Vata causes major damages as it is responsible for the movements and is prone to changes. Vata usually blocks the flow of Pitta, which is responsible for the transformations. Kapha is responsible for controlling the fluids in the body.

All three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha dwell in the heart, which means that the condition of each of the doshas can affect our heart health. On the other hand, whatever is going on in the heart can affect Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, which leads to diseases.

As a result, Ayurvedic treatments for heart diseases aim at the restoration of the balance of the three doshas, and the harmony between the energies. In this state, the body is not vulnerable to diseases.

The Ayurvedic approach to heart disease is to identify the causes of imbalances that give rise to cardiovascular disease. According to Ayurveda, toxic matter builds up because the physiology fails to get rid of it efficiently. So Ayurveda aims to remove impurities and blockages, strengthen digestion, improve metabolism, and restore the body’s natural abilities to detoxify and heal. Besides these natural ways of healing, Ayurveda suggests herbal-based medicines for heart diseases.

Ruamit tablets

Ruamit tablets – ayurvedic medicine for osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis

When the cartilage cushioning the ends of the bones starts losing its elasticity and wears out, this condition of the joints is called osteoarthritis. Since the bones do not get the protection of the cartilage, they start rubbing against each other, leading to stiffness, inflammation, and pain. This even restricts movement.

Osteoarthritis can develop in any joint of the body but usually they occur in the hands and weight-bearing joints like the knees, hips, and spine, particularly in the neck and lower back.

Causes of osteoarthritis

While science has no definite answers about the factors that cause osteoarthritis, some of the factors identified are inflammation and cellular disorders that lead to the abnormal breakdown of cartilage, and biomechanical imbalances that put stress on the joints.

Ayurvedic approach to osteoarthritis

Ayurveda believes that due to vitiation of agni, ama or partially digested or undigested nutrients, toxins develop and accumulate in the gut and is then spread through channels of the body and reach the joints with the help of Vata.

Ayurveda focuses on treatments like Panchakarma to return the toxins to the gut for excretion and rehabilitation of agni. It also suggests lifestyle and dietary changes to address the initial cause of vitiation of agni and buildup of ama.

Ayurveda offers many herbal treatments for osteoarthritis. Herbs like boswellia, turmeric, ashwagandha, ginger, triphala, guggulu, and shatavari have shown to decrease inflammation.

Ayurvedic approach to rheumatoid arthritis

The chronic inflammatory joint disease called rheumatoid arthritis occurs due to vitiation of Vata dosha and accumulation of ama in joints. Whenever ama gets localised in the body tissue or joints, it leads to pain, stiffness, swelling, and tenderness in the related joints. The chronic condition may cause debility, deformities of joints and crippling.

Voluntary and involuntary functions are all under the control of vayu. In rheumatoid arthritis, the normal function of Vata gets disturbed and produces stabdhata and sandhigraha leading to restricted movements of joints.

According to Ayurveda, rheumatoid arthritis originates gradually with fatigue, loss of appetite, morning stiffness, general muscle pain and weakness. Sooner it leads to joint pain as joints become warm, tender, and stiff when not active for long. Inflammation of the synovial lining produces more fluid and joints start swelling. It usually affects the wrist, knees, toes, fingers, elbows, ankle or even neck.

Ayurvedic treatments for rheumatoid arthritis depend on the diagnostic guidelines the practitioner uses. Some believe that imbalances in the gut and inflammatory compounds cause rheumatoid arthritis, while others believes that it is the result of poor dietary and lifestyle habits that cause inflammation in the body. Both the school of thoughts use herbs, supplements, dietary changes, and exercise to help relieve rheumatoid arthritis.

Rheumatoid arthritis can be managed well with Ayurvedic medicines and Panchakarma, and they don’t have any side effects.

Given that conventional treatment has moderate effectiveness and potential side effects, people are turning to Ayurvedic treatments. While Ayurveda suggests hot fomentation for the affected joints, Ayurvedic medicines like Ruamit tablets, manufactured by Avance Pharmaceuticals, is an effective drug used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.

boniheal

Ayurvedic medicine boniheal promotes complete bone health

Our bones are strong during our adulthood, but with age, they start wearing out and their density starts decreasing gradually. With age, we start losing bone density at a faster rate because of the loss of calcium from the bones. Women are at a higher risk of facing this problem as female hormone estrogen starts declining once they reach menopause.

Ayurveda’s approach to bone health

In Ayurveda, bones are called asthi. The asthi dhatu is the skeletal structure of our body. Digested by the asthi dhatwagni, it also forms the teeth. The waste products of this metabolic process are the hair and nails.

Ayurveda suggests that to produce healthy asthi dhatu we need adequate pruthvi and vayu guna that should be consumed in the form of balanced diet. Pruthvi guna is abundant in sweet foods such as grains, nuts and astringent foods like beans. Vayu guna, on the other hand, is found in bitter and pungent foods like vegetables. However, if your bones are too weak, consumption alone does not guarantee bone health. Your digestive fire should also be healthy.

If the Vata dosha vitiates, it leads to weak or fragile bones. This condition leads to osteoporotic and bones fracture easily. When Pitta vitiates, it leads to bone infections (osteomyelitis) and inflammation. Kapha vitiation leads to thick and dense bones.

While we can achieve bone health with proper diet, at a certain point we need supplements to maintain deterioration of our bone health and to keep them healthy. Ayurvedic treatments suggest herbal medicines to take good care of our bone health.

Magnesium has been derived from Jahar mohra, which is needed for calcium absorption and helps in bone formation. Zinc is obtained from Yashad, which is important for calcium uptake and immune function. The drug also includes Asthishrinkhla, an ancient herb that has been used since ages for its bone healing properties, especially in cases of fractures.

winostress capsules: ayurvedic medicine for stress and tension

Stress is known as sahasa in Ayurveda. Stress is related to the balance of three vital energies or doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Our lifestyle habits determine how harmoniously these doshas function. It is important to maintain a balance of the three doshas, particularly in the face of everyday stresses.

Stress and its related problems like fatigue and strain develop when we fail to maintain a balance between Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. But maintaining harmony between these doshas is not very difficult.

When we experience extreme stress, the Vata dosha goes out of balance. When Vata gets disturbed, you tend to become restless mentally and physically. To rebalance Vata, it means to stop the erratic movement and to channel the energy more effectively.

When under stress, a Pitta person usually becomes angry, and shows obsessive behaviour. He would want everything to be just right as per his will. So it is important for the Pitta person to calm down and relax. As Pitta is made of fire, the element will make a Pitta person stressful. So, the idea is to undertake some stress-release practices to reduce the fire and become calm.

A Kapha person processes stress differently from a Vata or Pitta type. The Kapha person takes on his stress internally. When the stress hits this person, he withdraws. As Kapha is made up of water and earth, these elements make the person sad and depressed.

While stress is not always harmful, too much stress definitely causes damage. It leads to poor health as well as a specific physical or psychological illness like infection, heart disease, or depression. Persistent and unrelenting stress often leads to anxiety and unhealthy behaviours like overeating and abuse of alcohol or drugs.

Anxiety is often accompanied by physical symptoms like twitching or trembling, muscle tension, headaches, sweating, dry mouth, difficulty in swallowing, abdominal pain, etc.

Symptom of stress

  • Fatigue
  • Diarrhoea
  • Lack of concentration
  • Sleeping problems
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Irritability (anger)

These symptoms indicate that there is an increase or imbalance in the Vata dosha. Stress causes loss of immunity, which increases the susceptibility of the body to various diseases.

Winostress capsules for stress, strain, and fatigue

Winostress capsules, manufactured by Baidyanath, are an Ayurvedic proprietary medicine that helps to combat fatigue, stress and strain. This anti-stress medicine consists of adaptogens (non-toxic plants), and with immunomodulatory properties (an agent that modifies the immune response or the functioning of the immune system), it is effective in controlling stress and its related problems.

Ingredients of Winostress capsules

Each Winostress capsule contains a semi-solid concentrated extract of herbs such as Ashwagandha (Withania Somnifera), Bramhi (Bacopa Monnieri), and Jatamansi (Nardostaychys Jatamansi).

Ashwagandha has stress-lowering effects. This medicinal herb helps to lower levels of cortisol, a hormone that is produced by our adrenal glands in response to stress.

Brahmi also reduces stress and anxiety as it decreases the levels of cortisol, which is known as the stress hormone.

Jatamansi is known for its antioxidant activity and significantly reverses the stress-induced elevation of lipid peroxidation and nitric oxide levels, decreasing the catalase activities in the brain. Jatamansi possesses significant anti-stress activity, which may be due to its antioxidant properties. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that can defend against oxidative stress and have a protective effect on our health. Jatamansi is known to calm the mind and nerves and has the efficacy to relieve stress related to menopause. It also relieves muscle ache and cramps related to stress.
